Entry requirements

  • Attending a secondary school.
  • Literacy and numeracy level equivalent to the successful completion of Year 9.

You will learn

  • Follow safe work practices and perform routine bakery tasks under direct supervision.
  • Prepare basic bread doughs using fundamental bakery techniques.
  • Produce basic sponge varieties and apply introductory baking methods.
  • Develop practical skills and industry knowledge that support participation in bakery work environments.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, you will receive:

  • Certificate I in Baking

Dress code and course materials

Students are required to provide and wear appropriate personal items to safely participate in practical bakery activities. This includes closed-toe, non-slip shoes, bakery uniform including Chefs jacket and pants, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hairnet or hat and apron, as directed by the program. 

These requirements ensure students meet workplace health and safety and food safety standards while participating in both practical and classroom-based learning.
